Leadership at Adfenix
Adfenix strives to be a great place for people to work and grow! As a leader you have a key role in making that happen! 💙
Philip Heyman(Head of CS team) is one of the great leaders we have at Adfenix and was recently recognised as our Ambassador of care.
In this article he will share his view on leadership and share some great tips 🫶
What do you believe is important when it comes to being a great leader at Adfenix?
One important thing (out of many) is to show and have trust within your team. If you have that, you and your team will most likely conquer all obstacles moving forward. It has to be genuine of course, otherwise it might fail.
To succeed at a leader I believe It's important to have your team with you, you are in this together. You need to collaborate and you need to know that we always help and support each other.
Any best practices?
- Fail fast and learn from it!
- Be true, meaning that people are not stupid, they will see through it if you are not.
- If you are a new leader, don't pretend that you know everything, because you don't. Learn from your team and grow with them.
- Be brave in showing weakness and ask for help when you need it.
- Prise your colleagues when they deserve it! People need to hear that they do a good job. We all need that on different levels.
What is the biggest challenge?
Something I've seen during my years is that a lot of leaders and companies fail with setting the right expectations in an early stage. What can your colleagues expect from you as a leader and what do you expect from your colleagues?
This is also a question that should be asked very early, already in the recruitment process. Ask questions like "What are your expectations on this job, me as a leader, and our company the first 3-6 months?"
If you don't talk and set the right expectations your colleagues might keep them for themselves and we might work towards a goal with mixed expectations on what we are doing and what we want to get out of each other. With mixed expectations, there will be a lot of confusion, try to avoid that =)
Do you get the support and tools you need in order to grow as a leader and help your team in the best possible way?
Yes, I do! Both in the tools, other leaders and the People & Culture Team. We use Winningtemp to measure employee engagement. My team leaves feedback so we can talk about it regularly in 121, Q45 and Temp-talks. I get a lot of support from my leader Stefan, the best leader I have ever had who has my back and supports me in my leadership.
One thing I asked in the interview about getting this job was, "who will be my manager/leader?" Because who my leader is, has always been very important to me. Who will I follow, learn from and work very closely with, and also who do I want to do a good job for? If I have a great leader that will most likely motivate me to do a good job.
Invest in great leadership. That will lead to higher employee satisfaction ⭐️
